Recent history has not been kind to Colorado’s forests. Drought, wildfires, and insect infestations have, for the last decade, kept our trees stressed and under attack.
It is often difficult and sometimes impossible to fight Mother Nature. But for centuries mankind has found ways to mitigate the damage caused by natural disasters. There are practical methods available to help protect, enhance and better utilize our forests.
Throughout Colorado, forest landowners are hard at work growing and protecting our forests, improving forest health and, at the same time, producing products such as renewable alternative fuels that will make the world a better place to live.
If you enjoy the beauty of Colorado’s forests, you can and should help. This manual will provide some practical information on improving the health of our forests. Don’t stand by and wring your hands over the plight of our forests. Instead, read on, join Colorado’s Tree Farmers, get your hands a little dirty and help make a difference.
Thanks,
The Colorado State Tree Farm Committee
